main FWD Life Five Interesting Facts About The Music Video 'Thirayai' (1)

A melodious track that enamours the listener, capturing and tugging at their heartstrings, ‘Thirayai’ is a beautiful song that anyone who has ever loved can lose themselves in. It’s magical when everything falls in place to create an experience worth remembering. The music video, starring Ketaki Narayan of ‘Veeram’ fame and Mohammed Fawas, directed by Shajeer Basheer, with music by Dev, has been making its rounds through the city, capturing hearts and appreciation alike. Here are five interesting things you probably didn’t know about the video.

1.The Video has been in the works for over 6 years

Not that it was shot over a span of 6 years, but it all started 6 years ago when the music director came up with the melody and let his friend Shajeer hear it. Two years later, they got their choreographer, Mohammed Fawas and lyricist, Jubith Namradath. The costume designer Remya Suresh was a huge reason why it all came together as well. Finally, they got the funding they needed and from then everything just fell into place one way or another.

2.The video is shot at Pepper House, Kochi

“We finalised on Pepper House as our location a week before the shoot.” says the director, Shajeer Basheer, “At first I wanted to shoot in a single room, but then after we got the location I decided to do it in two rooms.” One of the main leads in the video, Ketaki Narayan, was equally excited about the location. “The whole place was really pretty. The food was good, the people were nice. It looked like an ideal place to live at”. The owner provided the space for free since it was a non profit venture.

3.Ketaki is not a professional dancer

We can barely tell though! The story telling makes up for everything. “Whatever I couldn’t bring out through the dance, I tried to make up in expressions.” says Ketaki Narayan, “Originally we had 2 days for practicing and 2 days for shooting at Pepper House. He send me a video and I used to practice the routine on my own wherever I could. The terrace, the kitchen, even at the Gym. People were looking at me like ‘What’s wrong with this girl’. I didn’t mind. I was that excited with the whole thing”

4.Costumes weren’t a part of the concept at first

The director, Shajeer Basheer, wanted the whole video to be free of any constraints. So at first he wanted to shoot the whole thing in nude. But then he realised that the current society hasn’t progressed to a level that they’d accept something like that. His friend Remya Suresh, who has worked on costumes for movies like Action Hero Biju, designed the costumes especially for the video. The blue one that Ketaki wore stands for the Earth, and the brown one for the moon with its seemingly brown spots.

5.The whole video is based on the concept of Lovemaking

It seems quite surprising, but not so if you were actually paying attention to the lyrics. The music video shows a love between the Earth and the Moon. “Moon represents the complex male aspects, Earth represents the female complexity. They are not connected on a physical plane, but from different, independent spaces, they are making love to each other.” says Shajeer, “throughout the video, the two don’t touch. But we see their love culminating through dance and expressions”

The video is a different take on melodies when compared to the norms. There is a beauty that is inherent in the melody that slips and spreads over the video.

5 Sustainable Interior Design Trends to Embrace in 2024

Published

on

As the world becomes increasingly aware of the importance of sustainability, it’s no surprise that eco-friendly practices are making their way into the realm of interior design. In 2024, we can expect to see a surge in sustainable interior design trends that not only enhance the beauty of our living spaces but also minimise our environmental footprint. From repurposed materials to energy-efficient solutions, here are five sustainable interior design trends to embrace this year.

Upcycled Furniture:

One of the most prominent sustainable interior design trends of 2024 is the use of upcycled furniture. Instead of buying new pieces, consider giving old furniture a new lease on life by refurbishing or repurposing them. From reclaimed wood tables to refurbished chairs, upcycled furniture adds character and charm to your space while reducing waste and conserving resources.

Biophilic Design:

Biophilic design, which emphasizes a connection to nature, continues to gain popularity in 2024. Integrating natural elements such as plants, natural light, and organic materials into your interior design not only enhances aesthetics but also promotes well-being and sustainability. Consider incorporating living walls, indoor gardens, and sustainable wood finishes to bring the outdoors inside and create a healthier living environment.

Energy-Efficient Lighting:

With a growing focus on energy conservation, energy-efficient lighting solutions are becoming a staple in sustainable interior design. LED lights, in particular, consume significantly less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and last much longer, reducing both energy consumption and maintenance costs. Additionally, consider incorporating natural light sources such as skylights and large windows to maximize daylight and minimize the need for artificial lighting during the day.

Sustainable Textiles:

When it comes to upholstery and soft furnishings, opting for sustainable textiles is key to reducing environmental impact. Look for fabrics made from organic or recycled materials, such as organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, or recycled polyester. These materials not only reduce the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides but also minimize waste and support eco-friendly production practices. Additionally, consider investing in durable, high-quality textiles that stand the test of time, reducing the need for frequent replacements.

Smart Home Technology:

In 2024, smart home technology continues to evolve, offering innovative solutions for sustainable living. From smart thermostats that optimize energy usage to home automation systems that control lighting and appliances, these technologies can help reduce energy consumption and increase efficiency in your home. Additionally, smart home devices such as occupancy sensors and smart meters provide valuable insights into your energy usage, empowering you to make informed decisions about resource management and conservation.

As we strive to create more sustainable living environments, embracing these five interior design trends can help reduce our environmental impact while creating beautiful and functional spaces. Whether you’re upcycling old furniture, incorporating natural elements, or investing in energy-efficient technologies, every sustainable choice contributes to a greener future for generations to come. So let’s embrace these trends and make sustainability a cornerstone of our interior design practices in 2024 and beyond.
