A Conversation with the Dilli Wali Kochu Amma- Vaishaki Radhakrishnan

Published

on

Amidst the pandemic huddles and ongoing rush in the digital media platforms, a Delhi based Malayali content creator, found her way to bring out laughter in people. The creator of ‘Kochu Amma’ series Vaishaki Radhakrishnan, and her relatable contents with her satirical and amazing acting skills, gives out a fit of laughter and positive vibes to her followers.

‘‘I am a jovial person and I love making people laugh. I never write a script or pre-plan dialogues for any of my videos. When I become the character, I just go with the flow. The dialogues come in automatically’’ – She says talking about her content creation. She has currently reached her first milestone with over 50k subscribers on her Instagram page.

Vaishaki, who is also the ‘Face of Kerala 2018’ winner says that acting was her passion since childhood. And this beauty pageant was her baby steps towards her dream.  After she won the pageant, she moved to Kochi in the year of 2019 to pursue her dream of acting. But her family’s circumstances were not favorable, hence she had to come back to her hometown. Being a single daughter, Vaishaki has gone through many hardships in life. At a very young age she became the backbone of her family, and simultaneously worked hard to achieve her dreams. But the super woman in her was not ready to give up no matter how many times life gave her hardships. When life gave her lemons, she made sure to make a delicious lemonade out of it. Overcoming all the hurdles thrown at her, she faced each challenge with a smile and her skills which entertained her audience all the while.

From someone who was frightened to get on stage, during her schooldays to now becoming a content creator and influencer on Instagram, Vaishaki has come a long way. ‘‘Instagram is a free platform. You can post anything on it, with a click of a button, but one should always be ready to face the after effects. It can be great encouraging comments, or trolls and jokes about you. We should just rectify the mistakes, if there’s any, and keep on doing what we love’’- She says.

‘‘My father is my biggest inspiration. From a very young age, I used to watch advertisements and then enact it out to my parents. When we used to go to our relative’s house, I used to mimic them and make everyone laugh. My dad saw this talent and he has supported me all the way till date’’- She says smilingly.

Kochu’s Amma being the star of her series, all of her contents are inspired from daily life conversations with her mom, says Vaishaki when asked about her inspiration behind the videos. ‘‘I always listen to my mom’s phone conversation. It’s so funny. I get so many ideas from it. That’s how the ‘Kochu Amma’ series happened. Also, the conversations with my friends are great inspiration for my videos. When you sit with your friends and talk, a lot of funny discussions will be happening. You just have to be attentive and you’ll get a sea of ideas’’- She said laughing. And yes, making relatable content for the audience is her huge success.

On a serious note, she adds that there are a lot of toxic thoughts in parents about many things. It’s because of the way they were conditioned from a very young age. ‘‘I just wish to change all those toxic perspectives through my funny contents’’. Sarcasm and satire being her main essence of humour, she uses it efficiently to make her content more relatable and thought evoking for her audience to share, entertain and enjoy.

Vaishaki also makes contents on current issues faced by women in the society in hope to bring awareness to the public.

What she has got to say to all budding content creators is to ‘‘Be observant. You can get ideas from everywhere around you. Bring out those ideas in your own unique way to the audience. You should always be consistent and work on your ideas. Never break the engagement rate on your page. So, keep on posting your works. Work hard and never give ears to trolls or hate that you may get from the social media platforms. If you love what you do, nothing can stop you from excelling in your life’’- she ends in an inspiring note.

5 Sustainable Interior Design Trends to Embrace in 2024

Published

on

As the world becomes increasingly aware of the importance of sustainability, it’s no surprise that eco-friendly practices are making their way into the realm of interior design. In 2024, we can expect to see a surge in sustainable interior design trends that not only enhance the beauty of our living spaces but also minimise our environmental footprint. From repurposed materials to energy-efficient solutions, here are five sustainable interior design trends to embrace this year.

Upcycled Furniture:

One of the most prominent sustainable interior design trends of 2024 is the use of upcycled furniture. Instead of buying new pieces, consider giving old furniture a new lease on life by refurbishing or repurposing them. From reclaimed wood tables to refurbished chairs, upcycled furniture adds character and charm to your space while reducing waste and conserving resources.

Biophilic Design:

Biophilic design, which emphasizes a connection to nature, continues to gain popularity in 2024. Integrating natural elements such as plants, natural light, and organic materials into your interior design not only enhances aesthetics but also promotes well-being and sustainability. Consider incorporating living walls, indoor gardens, and sustainable wood finishes to bring the outdoors inside and create a healthier living environment.

Energy-Efficient Lighting:

With a growing focus on energy conservation, energy-efficient lighting solutions are becoming a staple in sustainable interior design. LED lights, in particular, consume significantly less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and last much longer, reducing both energy consumption and maintenance costs. Additionally, consider incorporating natural light sources such as skylights and large windows to maximize daylight and minimize the need for artificial lighting during the day.

Sustainable Textiles:

When it comes to upholstery and soft furnishings, opting for sustainable textiles is key to reducing environmental impact. Look for fabrics made from organic or recycled materials, such as organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, or recycled polyester. These materials not only reduce the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides but also minimize waste and support eco-friendly production practices. Additionally, consider investing in durable, high-quality textiles that stand the test of time, reducing the need for frequent replacements.

Smart Home Technology:

In 2024, smart home technology continues to evolve, offering innovative solutions for sustainable living. From smart thermostats that optimize energy usage to home automation systems that control lighting and appliances, these technologies can help reduce energy consumption and increase efficiency in your home. Additionally, smart home devices such as occupancy sensors and smart meters provide valuable insights into your energy usage, empowering you to make informed decisions about resource management and conservation.

As we strive to create more sustainable living environments, embracing these five interior design trends can help reduce our environmental impact while creating beautiful and functional spaces. Whether you’re upcycling old furniture, incorporating natural elements, or investing in energy-efficient technologies, every sustainable choice contributes to a greener future for generations to come. So let’s embrace these trends and make sustainability a cornerstone of our interior design practices in 2024 and beyond.
