From a young dreamer who wandered around Swaraj Round and Thekkinkadu Maidan in Thrissur, Tovino Thomas has established his name as one of the few promising actors currently in Mollywood. It all started with him being a fashion model as he was into body fitness during his BTech days in Tamil Nadu. With several films under his kitty already, he now looks forward to his upcoming film Theevandi.

Of late, the prevailing notion in the Malayalam film industry is that Tovino’s films can generate much anticipation without need of heavy promotions. It is somewhat true because film lovers have started to repose their faith in his script selection from the time of Guppy (2016) . Thejas Varkey in Guppy earned him a lot of critical applause as he proved to the audience that he can handle complex characters.  Aami, Mayanadhi are some other films which have built up Tovino’s acceptance among viewers.

It is commendable that a young and relatively new actor like him tries to move beyond his comfort zone and tries to explore several characters.  Theevandi is an another example of it, in which he plays the role of an ordinary and unemployed young man who is a chain smoker. Fellani TP , filmmaker of Theevandi , is a debutant and Asian Academy of Film & Television graduate. As the title card and teasers mention, the hero’s smoking habits can turn out to be an important element in the movie.

Another interesting factor that has grabbed the audience’s attention is actor Sudeesh’s make over to a shoddily dressed, bald and old  guy who plays the role of Tovino’s uncle. As the story is set around a small village and ordinary people in it, it is expected to strike a chord with the common folk.

The songs and teasers have created much hype and viewers believe that Tovino will meet their trust when Theevandi hits the theatres this May 4.
