There was a time when the internet was flooded with only images, selfies, and memes. But nowadays, literature is trending over social media as well. At a time when attention spans are limited and reading is on the wane, a few innovative young individuals have found ways to keep reading alive on Facebook and Instagram. Posting brief snippets of topics ranging from socially relevant ones to feelings that are shared by all, they deliver stories which are sharp and pertinent. In other words, it can be said that they execute an old technique of flash fiction that is suited to the 21st century.
Anuj Gosalia, co-founder and CEO of Terribly Tiny Tales (TTT) is one of the first to venture into this category. Five years back, they started the community to write about everything around them. Now it has grown into one of the largest micro-content platforms in social media and has risen to being a reputed writing community.
TTT grabbed the interest of readers right from the outset. It was followed by several other groups and pages who came forward to promote such a style of penning thoughts. The tinier it got, the more it went noticed. The Scribbled Stories and The Washroom Stories was another widely noticed internet communities of writers. They opened up the page for delivering stories written by the unknown writers in the society.
These communities are moving on from not just producing tiny tales, but are endeavouring to motivate good writers. Tiny tale workshops and classes are held by such groups in several parts of the country. Some of them even collaborate with big brands and firms. It has developed into a medium from which writers can earn. But above all, it is a great motivation and platform to everyone who is a writer at heart but has probably never dared to pen down their thoughts.
