]]>In the world of fashion, where flamboyance and opulence often take center stage, a new trend has quietly emerged, captivating the attention of celebrities, billionaires, and fashion enthusiasts alike. Known as “Quiet Luxury,” this viral and ultra-expensive fashion trend is causing waves in the industry, challenging the conventional notions of wealth display and style.
While many high-end luxury brands are known for their ostentatious and eye-catching designs, ‘Quiet Luxury’ takes a different approach. It revolves around the concept of dressing in understated, label-less clothing that exudes an aura of sophistication and exclusivity, despite its seemingly ordinary appearance. This trend has gained significant traction over the past few months, with influential figures embracing its allure.
So, what exactly is ‘Quiet Luxury’? At its core, it is a form of subtle wealth display, where the wealthiest individuals meticulously curate their attire with understated tones, simple cuts, and an absence of prominent logos. These seemingly unassuming garments, however, come with exorbitant price tags, often costing a small fortune.
One notable incident that brought ‘Quiet Luxury’ into the spotlight was Gwyneth Paltrow’s appearance in court, clad in an impeccably tailored but discreet pantsuit. This choice perfectly exemplified the essence of ‘Quiet Luxury,’ showcasing the ability to convey elegance and affluence without resorting to overt displays of wealth.
The appeal of ‘Quiet Luxury’ lies in its ability to provide billionaires with a paradoxical blend of ordinariness and exclusivity. By adorning themselves in seemingly commonplace clothing, these individuals are able to blend in with the masses while exuding an air of refinement and extravagance. The garments they choose may appear unassuming to the untrained eye, but their true worth is hidden in the finest craftsmanship, luxurious materials, and meticulous attention to detail.
One prime example of this trend can be found in the wardrobe of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, often seen sporting plain white or grey t-shirts that carry a hefty price tag. Such minimalistic pieces become the epitome of ‘Quiet Luxury,’ encapsulating the allure of hidden opulence within simplicity.
While ‘Quiet Luxury’ is not an entirely novel concept, its popularity has surged in recent times. The trend offers a safe and non-risky approach to fashion, favoring monochrome palettes, classic cuts, and timeless styles that are unlikely to fade away. This makes ‘Quiet Luxury’ an attractive option for those who seek to present themselves as both presentable and affluent, while also ensuring their fashion choices remain perpetually relevant.
In an era where ostentatious displays of wealth often dominate the fashion landscape, ‘Quiet Luxury’ stands as a captivating alternative, enticing the ultra-rich with its subtle allure. By embracing this trend, billionaires and celebrities alike have found a way to project their affluence with grace and sophistication, making a powerful statement without uttering a word.
As the influence of ‘Quiet Luxury’ continues to grow, we can only speculate on how this trend will shape the fashion industry in the coming years. Perhaps it will inspire a broader shift towards understated elegance and timeless style, encouraging individuals to redefine what it truly means to be fashionably wealthy.

]]>The decision to wear a gown by Elie Saab is notable because Kate typically favors British house Alexander McQueen for formal occasions. This choice showcased her willingness to explore different designers and added a touch of international flair to her wardrobe.
The Waleses’ attendance at foreign royal weddings is not common, but they have a personal connection to Jordan. Kate lived in the country from ages two to four due to her father’s work at British Airways. Prince William also has ties to Jordan, as he was hosted by Crown Prince Hussein during a visit in 2018. Additionally, the couple has previously vacationed in Jordan with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, further highlighting their fondness for the country.
Upon their arrival at the wedding, William and Kate were greeted by King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan. Other overseas royals, such as Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, as well as Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, were also in attendance. First Lady Jill Biden was among the distinguished guests as well.
Overall, this wedding provided an opportunity for the Princess of Wales to showcase her fashion choices and celebrate the bond between the British and Jordanian royal families.

]]>The approaching party season means lots of invites to lots of parties. Be it a small office fete of colleagues, a wild night out with your besties, or a nice evening with family; a gorgeous hairstyle is an essential to be the belle of the ball. Whether it’s a half up ponytail, or an elaborate updo, a strict haircare regimen goes a long way in rocking whatever style you choose.
Masks for health and shine
Frequent styling and usage of products can leave your hair limp and lifeless. Try out a natural conditioning and nourishing pack made with egg and yoghurt on your hair two days before your night out. Take care to wash your hair in the morning of the big day, so that the natural oils in your scalp will give your hair that shiny, bouncy look. It is extremely important that you prep your hair beforehand, as neglect will take the life right out of your hair. A concoction of apple cider vinegar and water will prevent your hair from being frizzy. And don’t forget to consume lots of protein-rich food like fish, eggs and nuts, as nothing boosts hair growth like some internal nourishment.
Serum magic
If you aim for curly, bouncy hair for the party, make sure that you use the right products, like serums and rollers, with your hair the night before. Invest in a volumising tonic if you have thin hair, and a straightening serum if you have frizzy hair. Be sure to condition your hair the night before.
Styling partners
Some of the hairstyling essentials that every woman should own are a styling mousse, volumising and setting hairsprays, heat protectant, finishing mist, styling cream, a backcombing bristle brush, a flat iron or curler, and any other product that is essential for your choice of hairstyle. Be sure to be patient with your hair. Above all, follow your heart and style your hair with verve, and watch jaws hit the floor when you make your grand entrance!
Tips
1)When applying heat to your hair, be sure to use a heat protectant to avoid hair damage and breakage
2)Don’t overload your hair with products, as it will get heavy
3)Take care to wash away the products from your hair after your night, and use hair masks to avoid hair loss and breakage
4)A good blow-dry is an excellent substitute for a glamorous hairstyle if you find yourself short on time.

]]>Kowtow, the New Zealand based designer label draws from its name that translates to ‘kneeling in reverence’ and has created a path for themselves in the field of sustainable fashion. With minimalistic pieces that are made from certified organic 100% fair trade fabrics that are ethically and sustainably sourced, the brand has made a name for itself in the contemporary fashion movement. FWD caught up with Gosia Piatek, founder and creative director of the brand that has ensured a safe environment for the workers at their factory in Kolkata while still creating progressive designs.
Sustainability is being mindful with resources. First and foremost it is about making or growing something if you can or recycling and reusing and if not, buying products that are sustainable and ethical and that are made to last.
I cannot generalize for other brands, but I know for us we try and be ethical, sustainable and transparent from seed to garment. We design the fabric from yarn sourced from the fair trade organic farms that we work with. We also only use sustainable trims, Italian made buttons from recycled hemp and nickle-free tacks from Germany. We use biodegradable packaging and sea freight rather than air freight. We try our hardest to make the best decisions possible and hope we will never become complacent, the challenge to be sustainable, ethical and to operate a successful business is hard work but it ensures that we believe in our product 100%.
It defiantly costs more than high street; we could never sell a basic t-shirt for $10. It’s not possible to cover make costs, freight and wages. However I know a $10 t-shirt compared to one of ours will fall apart quicker and you are less likely to look after it due to the price point. So buying once, buying quality and buying a sustainably and ethically made product will give you longevity.
It’s definitely not a fleeting trend, as we become more educated and the world becomes smaller due to the availability of air travel we realize we are all on one planet and all in the same boat. If we don’t group as a species and want to protect and respect our resources and the environment we will leave a very sad planet earth for our future children.

]]>The post Jainam Kumarpal On His Fully Organic Brand Bhusattva appeared first on FWD Life | The Premium Lifestyle Magazine |.
]]>Images: Various sources
Bhusattva is a fully organic brand of garments, with a global presence. Here are excerpts from a conversation FWD had with Jainam Kumarpal, Owner and Ecopreneur, House of Bhusattva. For him, sustainability translates to products that are completely biodegradable, and when it comes to the fashion industry, the slow fashion movement, rather than the fast fashion movement, is the way to go.
There are different degrees to which a label can be sustainable. There are different aspects of sustainability that a label can choose to put into practice. But I think a label can’t be called sustainable, unless it is certified. When I say Bhusattva is organic, I mean that it is organic right from the farming level, and the weeding, to the dyeing practices and the artisans creating the garments. The whole process is organic and certified.
It doesn’t mean that at all. At least, not always. It doesn’t offer cheap bargain prices, and the price seems higher in comparison, definitely. But the thing with sustainable brands is that they are usually more socially conscious too. With Bhusattva, there is a lot of value addition. We use hand embroidery, create entirely handcrafted products, try to revive the languishing art forms of India, and make sure there is a synergy between the artisans and the designers. When you say you want to do good for the environment and give something good to the people at large, you also make sure that your pricing strategy is ethical.
Absolutely. Gone are the days when Khadi was the only sustainable option. Now, sustainable labels create garments cut in the latest styles and trends. There is also a wide range of textiles available that are sustainable made from natural fibres from banana, bamboo, pineapple and the like. So one can find clothes that are sustainable and suit any taste.
Here to stay, definitely. In the next five years or so, I think a lot more people, designers and consumers, shall embrace sustainability. This will also make sure that there are more options and innovation when it comes to sustainability. It won’t be a fleeting trend at all.
When you look at the fashion world as a whole, there aren’t a lot of designers practicing sustainability. This has to do with the limited materials and resources that you can play with. But mostly because not only does sustainability not have a large market, it doesn’t offer a lot of profit. Compared to fast fashion, the profit margins are a lot lesser. Which makes people prefer the easier, more profitable route.

Before the rise of online shopping and department stores, very few people knew designers by their names beyond the unavoidably famous Gucci or Chanel. But with the advent of commercial collaborations by leading designers with either department stores or shopping websites, even those who wouldn’t give a second thought to their attire have started to sport designs that are hot off the runway. The iconic Cerulean monologue in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ was always true, but in recent times the distance between the designer and the customer has gotten smaller through these commercial collaborations or accessible lines. As reported by businessoffashion.com, brands such as Michael Kors, Tory Burch and Kate Spade have managed to rival the likes of Gucci and Louis Vuitton in quarterly revenues.
Accessible luxury is an oxymoron of sorts and can be rephrased as affordable luxury, but without compromising on quality. As Mary Beech, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of New York’s Kate Spade & Company, said to independent.co.uk, “It is really about balance – this approach enables us to reach a broader consumer base while staying true to who we are.” By launching affordable collections to collaborating with established brands or shopping websites, designers are recognizing a growing consumer base.
Masaba Gupta, known for her designs with quirky prints and bright colors, created an athleisure collection for MasabaXKoovs. Combining surrealism to the constant struggle between eating junk food and the need for fitness, the designer came up with a collection that aims at an active reboot for anyone’s lifestyle.
Known for their eclectic collections that combine craftsmanship and use of colors, Pankaj & Nidhi created a collection for Koovs in 2015 that balances prints with classic silhouettes that includes pieces such as dresses, bombers, jumpsuits, maxi dresses and tops. The designer couple has seen both critical acclaim and commercial success for their innovative but wearable designs.
Rohit Bal is known for his use of traditional fabric and motifs drawn from art, history and folklore, and create artistic opulent designs. His collaboration with the brand Biba saw a collection that had his signature silhouettes, fall and signature colors, such as muted maroon and deep blue, but on a more accessible price range.
Anita Dongre recognized the importance of accessible labels earlier on and has multiple lines to suit the sensibilities of different people. While AND has contemporary western wear, Global Desi caters to a younger, free spirited crowd. Her Grassroots collection is a tribute to the traditional handicrafts of India while the Anita Dongre label offers bridal, couture,prêt and menswear collections.
Aneetha Arora, the designer of the label Péro is known for her use of local materials and skills. As part of her Vogue Fashion Fund prize, the designer’s partnership with Westside gave rise to the collection ‘Zuba’. Using fabrics such as silk and chanderi featuring ajrakh prints, the collection caters to an older crowd than Pero’s usually demographic.
