“Vicky Donor”, a movie that instilled in people a willingness to help couples, wanting to start a family, or single mothers to have a child with some listed prerequisites. In the film Ayushman Khurana plays the role of a youngster, who is more than happy to donate sperms to couples in need. Sometime back, during one of the interviews just prior to his debut film “Vicky Door”, he had said, “Blood saves life, but sperm gives life.” When I was told that he had donated sperms in real life, I realised that his statement wasn’t a promotion gimmick.

When this handsome man was in town to attend an event, girls mobbed him like bees, danced with him and sang songs for him. Looking so much like an ‘eligible bachelor’, pretty girls went gaga over his charisma and simplicity. Even as they clung on to him and vied for posing photographs with him, little did they know that he was Tahira Khasyap’s better half.

Looking sporty in a printed blue T-shirt, a denim and brown shades, he shares with us more about his life, commitments; both professional and social.

Describing Ayushman Khurana in two words…
Down to earth and ‘little talented’

Is there anything that makes you insecure in the industry?
I would say it’s a sense of fickle mindedness that rules the other side of stardom. Initially, it did cause me some discomfort. But as time went by, I prepared myself to overlook such moves by enjoying the work I am doing.

In real life, if a married couple approaches you for help, would you be a ‘Vicky Donor’?
Yes, I will. In fact, I have donated in real life.

Your opinion about sperm donation…
Even today people are not very open about sperm donation. It’s for a good cause. As the sperm count has gone down, I think it’s the need of the hour to help childless couples.

About doing lip lock scenes in films…
It’s just my job. No emotions attached with it, and so it doesn’t matter to me ‘who is next’ to be kissed on-screen.

Most difficult phase in your life…
For me life has always been pleasant and smooth going. But maybe I can say, not clearing my entrance test would have been the time I would have paused for a minute.

Most fearless thing you have ever done…
I am an authentic sperm donor. I had donated sperms in 2004 as part of a reality show. While taking part in MTV Roadies season II, we were given the task of donating sperms. The participants who were proved to be healthy reached the finals and I was one among them. I was 19 then. And that time I was dating my wife, who also extended her support as it was for a good reason.

What is the most important aspect in a relationship…
Trust

When do we see you next on-screen?
My next film is Rohan Sippy’s “Nautaki Saala”, an April release. In the film, I will be sharing the screen space with model- turned-actress Pooja Salvi.
