The first steps of the former journalist Seema Suresh into the world of photography was through a basic model camera her husband gifted her. Inspired by the works of veteran wildlife photographer N.A Nazeer, Seema established herself in wildlife photography- one of the rare streams chosen by women. This freelance photographer and blogger is one among the top wildlife photographers in the country. Seema has been working in this field for almost 7 years. A lover of off-beat places and dense forests, Seema never gets tired of capturing the sheer beauty of nature. While talking with a daily, Seema said that even if she didn’t get a perfect shot in the jungle after hours of hard work, it doesn’t matter. But the beauty and the bliss she experiences every time is what draws her to the world of wildlife photography.

Born and brought up in Kollam, Nisha Purushothaman believes that it is her true love towards nature that fascinated her to be a wildlife photographer. A graduate in Applied arts from Fine Arts college of Trivandrum, Nisha has always been in awe of the world she sees through the lens. Based out of Dubai, Nisha has been in this field for almost 8 years. Nisha is also the co-founder of ‘shades of life’, an international green movement to plant trees and also ‘YNot Escapades’, a campaign that spreads awareness to the tourists to plant trees at places they travel. A photograph of Nisha was shortlisted by BBC in the year 2014 for BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

Similar to Seema, Aparna also began her life in the world of lenses through a camera gifted by her husband. Aparna started her basic lessons in photography through capturing the scenic beauty and life shots. Aparna and her husband went for bike rides to the dense forests to click shots from the wild. Being a class 12 physics teacher, Aparna used her knowledge in physics to experiment on lighting which helped her overtime to improve her photography skills. More than animals, it’s birds that excite Aparna more. Aparna is also active in spreading awareness on wildlife by conducting various workshops and exhibitions across the state.

A teacher and photographer from Kozhikode, Pushpa C.R. finds time for her passion amidst her busy life of family and work. Pushpa’s lenses travel behind the small creatures that enhance the beauty of our world. While talking with a daily Pushpa said that the closeness of nature she experienced during her childhood was the first spark that enticed her to nature photography. Pushpa’s photographs prove us that one should not go in search of nature, because nature is around us and we need the right lens to capture its beauty. The constructive criticisms she received from the social media had unboundedly helped her to improve her photographs.

Latha Prabhakaran, a lawyer, and native of Ernakulam began her walks into the wild as a child intertwining hands with her father Prabhakaran, a veterinary doctor. A lover of travelling, Latha has a countless number of amazing wildlife photographs on her list.

A fashion designer based out of Chennai, photography is a family affair for Sridevi. During childhood, Sridevi’s parents never took her to movies, instead to dense forests to explore the wild. These travels imbibed her love toward wildlife photography. Her husband Sathya Narayan also joins her in her expeditions into the wild.
