The Karnataka government denied permission to Bollywood star, Sunny Leone. Sunny was supposed to perform on the New year eve. The event was to be held at Orchid hotel.

The permission has been denied due to the fear of outbreaks of pro-Kannada parties and also keeping in view the mass molestation that occurred last New Year’s Eve.

Few pro-Kannada parties were up in arms against the show and said that her presence would corrupt young minds. They protested by burning the actor’s picture and by threatening to commit ‘mass suicide’ if her show is eventually held.

Later, the actor backed out from the event saying that the city police has said that they will not be able to ensure the safety of her and her team.

How to get gold and glittery evening party makeup look:

Step 1: Prime your eyes with a creamy nude shadow in powder or pencil form.

Step 2: Apply light strokes of bronze to the inner and outer corners of your lid.

Step 3: Apply dark brown with a brush and blend evenly throughout the crease.

Step 4: Reapply the nude eye shadow on the eyelid centre; this will highlight your next colour, a light bronze which you will gently pat on your lid using a medium, flat-tipped brush.

Step 5: Blend a neutral colour slightly above the lid in even strokes to avoid harsh lines.

Step 6: Use a very light colour with shimmer to highlight your brow bone.

Step 7: Apply a waterproof black gel liner to the lid and smudge the outer corner down with a flat-tipped brush. Then, swipe sparkly gold eyeliner along the outer corners of your eyes and along your lower lash line.

Step 8: Pat a bright shimmery gold dust on your lid with your finger. Be careful not to let it spill all over your face.

Step 9: For a touch of drama (who doesn’t like drama!), apply black mascara and black liner on your upper lash line.

2.       RED AND RAVISHING

You got it right! We’re talking about bold, luscious red lips here. Now this one takes much more than the right technique to carry off. It needs the right attitude! If you have it, go ahead and flaunt it, sweetheart. But remember to keep the rest of your makeup, especially the eyes, in subtle shades or near nude. A bit of black mascara on the top lashes is all you need.

How to get bold red evening party makeup look:

Step 1: Choose a sheer lipstick for a more natural look. Avoid cream or matte formulas.

Step 2: Apply lip balm and let it stay for a few minutes. Then blot off the excess balm with a tissue.

Step 3: Using the side of the pencil, not the tip, define and fill in. A muted red or berry shade works best.

Step 4: Apply a thin, even layer of lip colour with a lip brush. Tadaaa!

3.       MONOCHROME MAGIC

If subtlety is how you make your statement, a vibrant pop of one shimmering shade is enough to speak volumes.

How to get monochromatic evening party makeup look:

Step 1: Choose a shimmery powder shadow in a rich colour palette such as purple, royal blue, or emerald.

Step 2: Using a brush, apply an even layer from lash line to crease.

Step 3: Coat the top and bottom lashes with black mascara to define them.

Step 4: Keep the rest of the face neutral. Opt for a natural, peachy shade of blush and a nude lip gloss.

The holiday season is here and every year, the yuletide spirit is kicked off with the Thanksgiving Weekend. Though we’ve heard so much about Thanksgiving many of us have no clue about what it is or why it’s celebrated. So as we set the turkeys into the oven and start whipping up our pumpkin pies and gear up for Thanksgiving tomorrow, we tell you everything you need to know about this American holiday

When is Thanksgiving?

Without exception, Thanksgiving always falls on the fourth Thursday of November every year.

This year that’s Thursday, November 23.

What’s the history of Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving Day can be traced back to the 1621 celebration at the Plymouth Plantation in Massachusetts. The early European (Dutch) settlers known as the Pilgrims invited the local Native Americans to a harvest feast after a particularly successful growing season.

The previous year’s harvests had failed and in the winter of 1620, half of the pilgrims had starved to death. Luckily for the rest of the Pilgrims, the members of the local Wampanoag tribe taught them how to grow corn, beans and squash; catch fish, and collect seafood.

There are only two contemporary accounts of the 1621 Thanksgiving, but it’s clear that turkey was not on the menu. Others say that as wild turkeys are native to North America, they were a natural choice for early settlers. The three-day feast included goose, lobster, cod and deer. This feast lasted three days and was attended by 90 Native Americans and 53 Pilgrims.

It spread through the country and was celebrated on different days in different communities until, in 1789, George Washington declared the first national Thanksgiving Day.

 What gets eaten?

Turkey: and/or ham, goose and duck or turduken (a combo of three whole birds! – turkey, duck and chicken)

Stuffing: a mix of bread cubes, chopped celery, carrots, onions and sage stuffed inside the turkey for roasting. Chestnuts, chopped bacon or sausage, and raisins or apples are also sometimes included in the stuffing.

Sides: Thanksgiving meals also includes a wide array of side dishes, all based on family recipes with everything from Pumpkin soup and Cauliflower Purée to mashed potatoes, sweet potato, french beans, cornbread, cranberry sauce, brussel sprouts, corn on the cob, roasted root vegetables, macaroni and cheese and last but not the least gravy.

Pies: pumpkin pies are most common, but pecan, apple, sweet potato and mincemeat pies are also quite popular.

 When might I have seen Thanksgiving on screen?

Most of our ideas of Thanksgiving comes from the holiday episodes of American sitcoms from Simpsons, Modern Family, and more popularly from our all-time favourite, Friends.

Friends have recurring Thanksgiving episodes which were some of the classic and best-loved episodes from the sitcom. Here are a few that we remember.

You’ll remember Chandler boycotting the holiday because it reminded him of his parents’ divorce and the time when a Macy’s parade balloon escaped and the cartoon character Underdog flew away – leading to the gang being locked out of Monica’s apartment while the turkey burned. And how can we forget that time when tJoey’s head gets stuck in the Turkey.

And how could we EVER forget that Thanksgiving back in 2001 when Brad Pitt came to dinner with the gang!!! We are indeed thankful for Brad and his handsomeness that has given us reason to survive through our lonely years.

The Simpsons too celebrated (or rather, observed) Thanksgiving year after year, with their own crazy messages of being ‘thankful’ thrown in between

If you are organising a brunch with your close friends you could just pluck out a few flowers from your garden and use empty tins as a vase. Wrap your tins with gifting paper if you don’t like your tins plain and simple. Creative, cheap and beautiful.
