Met Gala 2018 will explore fashion’s relationship with the Catholic church and features designs from Coco Chanel, John Galliano, and Cristóbal Balenciaga, alongside 40 pieces on loan from the Vatican. Its exclusive guest list is filled with models, designers and industry big-hitters, all personally approved by Vogue Editor-in-Chef Anna Wintour. Like its name suggests, the Met Gala takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, otherwise known as the Met.
Incorporating the theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, the event’s most controversial theme to date, the A-list used this year’s red carpet to show off their most sacred looks. With crowns, crosses, and wings, the 2018 Met Gala red carpet was full of over-the-top ensembles that combined high-fashion and religion. These are the most delighful outfits.
Pop star Rihanna has taken this year’s Met Gala theme to the next level with her pope-inspired outfit, complete with papal headdress, her dress and image is more like an unapologetic feminist queen.
Katy Perry arrived in a gold Versace ensemble and an enormous pair of angelic wings that put Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show wings to shame.
Kylie Jenner wore a black gown with a cutout to it. She held hands with Travis Scott on the carpet.
Sarah Jessica Parker opted for a gold Dolce & Gabbana gown embroidered with sacred hearts and a towering nativity scene headpiece.
Frances McDormand blew the fashion pack away in a turquoise Valentino look from Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Spring 2018 couture show. She completed the bold look with a huge floral headpiece.
Ariana Grande pulled her look straight from one of the most famous places of worship on the planet. She Dressed as the Ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
Anna Wintour stepped onto the red carpet dressed as “Cardinal Chanel”
Priyanka Chopra Dressed in a deep burgundy strapless gown. But it was the theatrics that her intricately embroidered and beaded hood that brought to the Met Gala that was the real winner.
Bella Hadid arrived in a black gown with a sheer train and gold cross necklace. She looks regal with an edgy twist, courtesy of her latex bodice.
Kendall Jenner arrived wearing an off-the-shoulder ruched couture top with sheer elbow-length gloves and matching “long train” couture pants. She embodies a “Modern Angel”

Swedish superstar Tim Bergling, aka Avicci, has died, according to a statement from his publicist, who says the 28-year-old musician was found dead in Muscat, Oman on Friday afternoon. Avicii retired from live performing due to health reasons, having suffered from acute pancreatitis owing, in part, to excessive drinking. In 2014, his gallbladder and appendix had been removed and had been hospitalized twice in the preceding two years for acute pancreatitis.
Avicii will always be one of the most recognizable and omnipotent electronic dance producers the genre has ever seen. Leaving behind the of chart-topping music with collaborators such as Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Madonna, and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, he has a long list. Avicci began his music career in 2009 as a producer and went on to achieve international stardom, garnering up to the Top 10s on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Dance/Electronic Chart. He was also nominated for Grammy Awards in 2012 and 2013 for his songs “Sunshine” with David Guetta and “Levels.” He won the American Music Award for favorite electronic dance music artist in 2013.
Some of the best Tracks by Avicii were:
Levels: The track released in 2011 was Avicii’s breakout hit. It reached the Top Ten in 15 countries. “Levels” samples Etta James’ “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” and includes her vocals. The video currently has over 300 million views on YouTube. This song that impressed Pretty Lights and Flo Rida so much that they ended up using it in their own music eventually. Levels also got Avicii a Grammy nomination.
I Could Be The One (Nicktim): Avicii originally performed this track a year before it was released in 2012. The song was a collaboration with Dutch DJ and record producer Nicky Romero. Its hook particularly hit a chord with the youth as it was played across several clubs in several countries.
X You: This video features behind-the-scenes studio footage of Avicii working on the song and traveling to perform.
Wake Me Up: The song is uplifting, and speaks of hope and starting afresh. Wake Me Up has influences from the genres of folk music and country music. The song peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, dominated radio stations during 2013, and went platinum six times
Lonely Together: British singer Rita Ora jumped on this Avici track that EMA artist Cashmere Cat also helped produce. It was Avicii’s biggest track before his death. It’s catchy and might be unlike a song that speaks of loneliness and love.
You Make Me: The Swedish artist co-produced the EDM song with Ash Pournouri as the follow-up single to Wake Me Up on his debut album True. It dethroned his own song Wake Me Up on the U.K. Dance Chart to take the top spot.
Waiting For Love: The song was the lead single off Avicii’s second album titled Stories. Avicci collaborated wirth Martin Garrix for this song.
Hey Brother: The song is all about celebrating brotherhood and friendship. Bluegrass singer Dan Tyminski provided vocals for “Hey Brother,” a dance track that incorporated Tyminski’s style as well as country. The video for the single includes clips from the Vietnam War.
Addicted To You: Avicii co-wrote this track with Mac Davis, Josh Krajcik, and Pournouri.
The Days: Avicii co-wrote “The Days” with Swedish Grammy Award-winning producers Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare and U.K. vocalist Robbie Williams.
The nights: The Nights” follows the folk rock sound found in Wake Me Up and Hey Brother.
“Without You” ft. Sandro Cavazza: This track features vocals from Swedish singer Sandro Cavazza.
“Friend of Mine” ft. Vargas & Lagola: This was the last song uploaded to Avicii’s YouTube channel before his death.
Bromance: It charted the top track lists in several countries and was right at number one spot on the Billboard Dance Clubs Songs category.

]]>Usha Uthup: The Bold Bindi
If you ever see a saree and a customized bindhi in a dressing room, you wouldn’t think twice, you know it’s Usha Uthup’s. She broke away from the stereotype of being a female nightclub singer with her sense of fashion: a massive bindi, flowers, her magnificent jewelry and Kanchipuram sarees. Like her voice raises the bar, so does her bindhis. Whether it’s a big round one, an ornate black one or even colored ones, she never stops experimenting. She’s known for her signature ‘Usha Uthup bindhi’ that’s embossed with the first letter of Kolkata’s spelling.
Micheal Jackson : The Thriller Jacket
The iconic jacket was designed by Landis’ wife, Deborah. It was designed in such a way to stand out from the dark and dreary zombies. Yes, keeping a few things more symbolic, the V design that cuts through bold red was to make Michael look more ‘virile.’ Deborah only made two of the memorable red V-style jackets. One of these jackets was sold at an auction for $1.8 million. It was purchased by a Texas businessman, Milton Verret. He plans to display his latest acquisition at an Austin children’s hospital before sending it on tour to raise more money for children’s charities.
Amy Winehouse : The Beehive Hairstyle
Always known to buzz controversy, Amy’s beehive hairstyle was the scandal of the town. In fact her hairstylist, Alex Fodden was sacked because it was considered a bad influence on Amy. But this hairstyle goes way back in the 1960s, where it was developed by Margaret Vinci Heldt of Elmhurst, Illinois, owner of the Margaret Vinci Coiffures in downtown Chicago. She won the National Coiffure Championship in 1954. The Modern Beauty Salon magazine requested Margaret to design a new hairstyle that would reflect the coming decade.
John Lennon : The Shades
Behind the lens, lies a story. John and Yoko became very close and as friends they exchanged glasses and copper cups. John Lennon strongly believed in Feng Shui, and he viewed the world through his orange sunglasses. He believed that orange was a color that enhanced creativity. It was between 1970 and 1973, he composed the song, Imagine. When he died, Yoko took the lenses out of the glasses as a Japanese tradition, so that the soul can see life after death. Other famous celebrities who sport these shades are Harry Potter, Steve Jobs, Milhouse, and of course Gandhi.
George Micheal: The Cross Earring
When he was in the band Wham, it was an exclamation to his fashion sense. George Michael was famous for his videos, his hairstyle and his leather jacket and yes. he is certainly ‘Amazing.’ But when we look back into music, the small things matter. George Michael’s image changed from the pretty boy to the ultimate bad boy. He was once asked if there were any artifacts from his twenty-year career worth saving. He joked saying it was his cross earring and his old BSA motorcycle jacket and his ‘ Choose Life’ tee shirt. We guess he does ‘ have a little faith’ in those earrings.
Madonna: Gaultier Cone Bra
When she strutted herself in the Jean Paul Gaultier conical bra during the Blond Ambition World Tour 1989-1990, the bra became iconic. Such a fashion-forward statement was inspired by the Victorian days. According to Jean Paul Gaultier, the cones were inspired by his grandmother. The design was inspired by the hardcore Victorian corsets of his Nanna’s past. She recently reinterpreted the cone bra as a cage bra over a white button-down shirt, a black necktie and black pinstriped pants for her recent concert.

]]>The post Macau – A high profile Leisure & Entertainment Destination appeared first on FWD Life | The Premium Lifestyle Magazine |.
]]>This high profile leisure and entertainment destination boasts of world· class shopping and top-notch leisure facilities across the globe. Macau is not just a mere haven of slot machines and gambling tables but there’s lot to explore in this erstwhile Portuguese settlement. At the Michael Jackson Gallery in the Sofitel Hotel I saw more than 40 memorabilia of MJ. I gaped in wonder at MJ’s glittering white rhinestone glove, and a pair of socks covered with hand-sewn Swarovski loch rosen and square crystals.
From there, I headed to the trendy Hard Rock Hotel, complete with an eclectic collection of Hard Rock Memorabilia of idols like
Michael Jackson, Jacky Cheung, Madonna, Elton John, etc. When we had our fill of roulette and razzmatazz, we indulged in Museum
hopping. Macau’s museums range from the Maritime Museum to Vintage Sound Machines Museum. The prominent Macau Museum which has been built into the excavations of a fortress yielded a substantial number of the artifacts of the museum. But what caught my fancy was the Wine Museum devoted to wine, providing all the dope on wine making, from the growing of the grapes to bottling. I marveled at the 1,143 different wine brands on display. The Grand Prix Museum is just a hop, skip and jump from the Wine Museum. It houses a collection of magnificent machines that raced and won the Guia circuit. I tried the large Grand Prix simulator and felt the adrenaline rush.
The Historic Centre has a series of interconnected squares and streets crowded with beautiful specimens of European and Chinese architecture. Surrounded by pastel-colored buildings, the Senado Square with wave-pattern stone mosaic is the focal point. One end of the square is the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau and Holy House of Mercy. At the far end is the 1f’1:h century St. Dominic’s Church. Also have a look at the proud facade of St. Paul’s which is one of the most enduring symbols of Macau.
Don’t miss world’s highest commercial bungy jump at Macau Tower, sky jumping or sky walk along the tower’s outer rim. Equally spectacular is The House of Dancing Water, a breathtaking water based extravaganza in the City of Dreams.
Being a food ie, I explored the street food scene for dim sums, Macau’s famed egg tarts and coconut cakes. I headed to the eponymous eatery of Antonio Coelho in Taipa village where a delightful Portuguese experience awaited us_ Chef Antonio rustled up his signature dishes like spicy sausages, goat’s cheese gratin with acacia honey and olive oil. For the main course, we had charcoal grilled Bacalhau (codfish) with potatoes. I relished the African chicken with garlic, onions, chilly, ginger and coconut sauce. To round off, Antonio served us crepe suzette-lovely pancakes with a hot sauce of caramelized sugar, orange juice and Grand Mamier, which he flambeed at the table. It was a treat watching him knock the cork out of the wine bottle with a sword in front of the guests.
