Twitter is taking up the Thalaiva fever a notch up by releasing an exclusive emoji for his upcoming film Kaala. The emoji will appear in Twitter next to the hashtag Kaala. This facility is not restricted to hashtags in English but is open to three more languages, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The Hindi word is Kaalakarikaa.

The red outline creating his profile on black background emoji is inspired from his character in the film and adds colour to the conversations. Rajinikanth will be seen in an all black dressing with his beard kept white.

Even before the release of the film, Twitter is flooded with more than 2mn tweets and becomes the most talked about film in Twitter. S Vinod, executive producer of Wunderbar Films Private Limited, said in a statement, “Rajinikanth is India’s biggest megastar and we are very excited about the launch of the emoji. We’re thankful to Twitter for this vibrant emoji that we’re sure his fans will absolutely love.”

Directed by Pa Ranjith, music by Santosh Narayanan, and produced by Wunderbar Films, Kaala is all set to be in theatres from June 7. The megastar will be playing the role of a gangster who protects the Tamil speaking population, living in the slums of Mumbai’s Dharavi. Kaala also has Nana Patekar, Eshwari, Samuthirakani, and Huma Qureshi in important roles.

The first trailer that was released in March has more that 26mn views and the latest trailer which was released on May 28 already has over 2.7mn views under 24 hours of release.

  Kaala is the second film after Vijay’s blockbuster Mersal to have its own Twitter emoji.
