Top notch international clubs are all set to slide down in Kochi for India’s first pre-season football tournament, Toyota Yaris LaLiga World. The three teams will play their matches at Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium from July 24. Fresh from their unbelievable win over Real Madrid in the Spanish league, Girona FC will become only the second side from a top European league to visit India.
Australian club Melbourne City FC, managed by Warren Joyce, will come in after a third-placed finish in the hotly contested A-League, the best finish by the club in their history. Kerala Blasters FC will look to kick start their pre-season playing these top foreign clubs at home.

“It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of such a historic moment,” said LaLiga Ambassador and Spanish football legend Fernando Morientes as he unveiled the tournament trophy. “Pre-season tournaments are the best preparatory ground for a club to prepare for the season ahead. I remember how playing pre-season friendlies helped me identify the areas that I needed to work upon and be better prepared.”
LaLiga World will help showcase India as a pre-season destination for clubs from across the world. This edition of the tournament spans three continents. The purpose of LaLiga World is to provide world class football action for fans who share a common love and passion for the sport.
Kerala Blasters FC, one of ISL’s biggest clubs with a large fan following, will look to kick start their pre-season playing Australian club Melbourne City FC and LaLiga’s Girona FC in this edition of LaLiga World.
Scott Munn, Melbourne City FC CEO said, “This is Melbourne City’s first ever visit to India, and the whole squad are incredibly excited about meeting the fans in Kochi and playing in front of such a passionate crowd.

This will be a perfect start to our pre-season preparations as we play against two international clubs of great repute,” said Varun Tripuraneni, CEO, Kerala Blasters FC. “It will be a treat for football fans in Kochi and we are expecting the crowd to come out in large numbers and enjoy some high quality football.”
M.A.M. Babu Moopan, Chairman and MD of Nippon Toyota, said that his dream is to bring the biggest clubs to India. He hopes that by 2022, clubs like Manchester United will come to India for pre-season friendlies.
The tickets for LaLiga World will start at Rs 275 and will go up to the 500 Rs, the prices have been kept affordable as most of the people can enjoy and watch world class football and will be available through PayTM, the official ticketing partner.
