FWD caught up with Neethi Elizabeth Varghese, fashion exponent and Managing Director at EZVA, the multi-designer boutique located in Cochin.
Carefully selected and intricately crafted designs from Indian-wear to western-wear being her forté, Neethi walks us through her tastefully-lit store and sheds light on her wardrobe staples for occasions all-day round.
We have two lines at EZVA – the Couture line and the EZVA Label line. We came up with a bohemian-inspired collection for the Label line in the beginning and focused on keeping it casual and summery, with airy and flow-y fabrics. But this time round, we decided to opt for something a little more formal.
On the other hand, with our Couture line, we got inspired after working with versatile brides. The traditional south Indian bride always opts for the reds and maroons, but we were hoping the ‘EZVA bride’ takes it to a whole new level – perhaps forgoing the reds and embracing pastel colours – and choose something out of the box that new-age brides would be willing to experiment with.

This is one of my favourite pieces that I recently worked on. It is perfect for the playful bride, ideally for pre-marital ceremonies such as the Sangeet and Mehendi. What’s great about this piece is, post-ceremony, you can always don it again by changing it up a bit – styling it with a shorter crop top and some staple accessories for the perfect summer’s day. The skirt in itself has different layering fabric with delicate embroidery that makes the piece unique on its own.

I adore pastel colours and this particular dress is perfect for brunch. The silhouette is loose, dainty and perfect for Kochi weather. This particular style is unseen in and around Kochi and that’s why this would be my go-to option for brunch.
We can also play around with it by tying it up or cinching it at the waist with a slim belt. A pair of 5-inch stilettos would be your best friend in this case.
Coco Chanel was right about one thing – every girl needs an LBD. Little black dresses are our saviors whenever we find ourselves in a tizzy over last-minute date plans.
(picks up a sleeveless black number off the rack)
This dress is ideal for a night out with your beau. It’s fitted till the waist and the playful fabric and excessive ruffles waist-down will ensure you have a great time out dancing and having a blast.

Delicate embroidery that spreads across the bodice, a pretty lace hem, the subtle texture that adds to the pattern, the perfect fit, the right fall on a skirt – the finer details of an attire takes it from just another garment to something luxurious, an experience worthy of being savored. With an inherent love for fashion and style, Neethi Elizabeth Varghese knew what she wanted to do with her life even as a child. This Malayali talent was mesmerized by the colors and textures of fashion which prompted her into starting her own store and label.
Born into a family of hard working business people, Neethi followed her heart into the field of her choice. After high school, she did a 4 year course at NIFT, Bangalore in Textile design, interned with Reliance Trends and worked for a while with ELLE fashion house.
Once she was back to Kochi after 10 years in Bangalore, Neethi started working at Synthite Industries, the family business, to learn about the business aspect of things. Her family encouraged her to follow her passion and her father prompted her to create a business plan for the fashion venture before diving in head first.
After making up her mind to venture out on her own, Neethi was lost at how to go about doing that since she didn’t know many people in the city, nor did she have any idea on how to start a store of this kind. But as luck would have it, Neethi met renowned Fashion Editor Vinod Nair at an event and after talking to him about her plans, she had found herself a fashion mentor and consultant.
A major hurdle faced by Neethi on her journey to realizing her dream was finding the right location for her luxury shopping destination. She wanted to give the customer a shopping experience that made them feel pampered and the quaint setting of Ramada was an exclusive and perfect fit.
Neethi Elizabeth Varghese’s maiden venture bears the first two letters of her middle and last name and became EZVA. EZVA has in stock designs from Anita Dongre, Rahul Mishra, Neeru Kumar, Pratima Pandey, Mandira Wirk, Abraham and Thakore, Chirag Nainani, as well as their in house collection. Ezva the brand has a western line, a festive line and a couture line. While the western line does designs that range from casual to formal western wear, the festive line leans more towards the Indian aesthetics with tunics and tunic sets. The EZVA Couture line is intricate, well tailored and meant for brides or those looking to make a grand statement. Although Neethi tried to find the right unit to do her works here in Kochi, most of the production for the brand happens in Delhi right now.
EZVA the store opened its doors on December 17th 2016. With the right mixture of bling and simple designs, the initial response has been great. EZVA was Neethi’s first big dream. She wants the customers who purchase an EZVA piece to recognize the work that goes into the garments. “I want people who love fashion and enjoy wearing a beautiful dress to be our main customers. Someone who can appreciate the work that goes into making a great piece of design.”
