]]>One of the favourite comic characters of all time, DC’s very own ‘The Man Of Steel’, Superman turns 80 this June. The character was brought to life by Jerry Siegel (writer) and Joe Shuster (illustrator). As high school students, Jerry and Joe first picturised Superman as a bald villain with telepathic powers who goes rogue to gain money. But the comic didn’t succeed and it was then that they thought of turning this bald villain into a superhero who gives hope to humanity, thus resulting in the birth of Superman.
Superman was first seen in Action Comics which was released in June 1938, even though works were said to be completed by April.
Superman then took to the skies, with its sales and publication. Many movies were made based on the character and as years went by, the character also went through some changes of its own, especially with the costume and theories about how Superman gets his powers. The latest Superman movie, The Justice League (2017), just showed that Superman is a badass, especially when he takes up Bruce Wayne (Batman) up in the air and asks him ” Tell me, Do you Bleed?”. From realising that underwear is clothing that needs to be worn inside the pants, to still having that special place in our hearts, Superman will always live on, even if he dies in the comics and movies sometimes.
