Swapp is one app that plays many roles. Easy to use, it is a single platform that can open multiple apps that are hosted on it. You can order food from your favourite restaurant, book an appointment with your dentist and even connect with Blood Bank apps that are on board with Swapp. After downloading the app for free, a one time registration will give you access to the Swapp Store where you can connect with other services, which will not take up much memory space.

Swapp maintains personal privacy of the customers yet giving a personalised account. It is not just a customer friendly app but is also a helping hand to small businesses and enterprises because this platform allows them to connect directly with their own customers. These small businesses can create their own mobile app at an affordable rate, by creating an account with Swapp and then choose one of the ready-to-use templates that are on offer.
Swapp is a creation of Ashwin Panicker and Bavani Srinu. This couple launched Swapp in Trivandrum with an aim to to help the capital become a digital city. This app is known to Trivandrumites as a food app because of the initial moves. But that is changing soon. Swapp already has on board fish mongers, indoor courts, play schools, etc.
Swapp will be expanding to other cities soon.

We shared common ideas and ideals so we were keen to do something together.It took almost one year of discussions and conversations to end up in mobile application. We were actually trying to discover ourselves.At our growing stage Innovation Lab gave us an office space to start up and helped us to build a good network.By 2010 end we decided to go up with mobile application and registered our company named Mind helix.
The Spark
One day when we are having a coffee from a restaurant, discussing the problems in the transport industry; crammed buses, auto rickshaws and their high fare, at that time an idea for an auto rickshaw meter came up. We went home and four days later we had our product and we named it Tuk Tuk meter.This application calculates the exact auto fare using a mobile.It got lot of positive responses; more than 30000 people downloaded it.Our second product The Sentinel which is a security application also got lot of acclaim.It is a mobile application which helps anyone in distress.With a single press alert it will send alert to a relative or friend giving the exact location and will send an email marking their position in a map.
Positive developments
We got wide recognition. We are also the sixth top mobile companies as recognized by ISBI.It is the startup companies association in India.Microsoft has also shown interest to work with us to make these applications corporate.
Your attitude
We are not at all modest.We took a position between confidence and arrogance.We were and are confident about each other.During the discussion stage we fight each other.The confidence and strong bonding between us is secret behind our success.
The best thing about your team
Right now our team consists of nine members.The best part is their confidence on us.We are not giving them a huge salary. Still they offer their salary back when we are in need.They know we are at a budding stage.That is the kind of relation we have with our employees.They are investing on us only due to the trust. We don’t think that we could ever repay the kind of effort they are taking.We won’t get dedication through money.Actually they are risking a lot.Here we are trying to create a different culture.
Challenges faced in the journey
The major challenge any entrepreneurs faces is financial. At a time if you have lot of ideas, human resources and don’t have money it will end up in failure. We started with the money we got from freelancing. Luckily our product becomes nationally and internationally famous. So it becomes a moment of pride for the families. They understood that we are not wasting time and money.
Setback moments in your journey
We had many setbacks in our journey. One incident which we can’t forget is when we were in college. We got a project from a client in Delhi. Very enthusiastically we did the project. But he cheated us he didn’t give us remuneration amounting to 2 lacks. We didn’t become desperate, we didn’t lose hope. Instead we learned a lesson from that incident. We didn’t consider it as a failure we believe that there is nothing called failure.
Future plans
Honestly speaking we have no idea about future. Entrepreneurship is more about journey than what you exactly plan for. Just for the investors sake we plan huge business relations and share clear visions. Actually we wanted to have huge company with so many employees so and so many. We will grab everything in this entrepreneurship journey. We wanted to become mobile solution providers. We want to do anything and everything related to phone. To start a Research and Development wing is our future vision. It is actually a long term investment.
