]]>The post What Could Have Been The Reasons For Sridevi’s Death? appeared first on FWD Life | The Premium Lifestyle Magazine |.
]]>Text Credits: Shibul Pavithran
According to the media reports, Sridevi died due to cardiac arrest or heart attack. But what made the celebrity suddenly feel weak in her health condition, when last week she was seen dancing in her nephew’s wedding in Dubai, where she looked quite happy. But there is something very fishy about it, how can a healthy adult accidentally drown in a bathtub( according to the recent forensic report submitted)?? And how does a bathtub drown someone, it’s not Atlantic ocean, or is it? Or is it yet another controversial/mysterious death in B-town( Jiah Khan and Divya Bharti, to name a few). It is said that she was brought to the hospital, in a dead state. Another crazy thing to imagine (or coincidental) would be that ‘Jayalalitha’ was born on the same date that Sridevi Died, and coincidentally even Jayalalitha had a very mysterious death in a hospital, which remained unsolved, till it was forgotten. And let’s not miss out on the fact that she died in Dubai, which is 100 multiplied by Bombay in all aspects of charm and power(with unlimited immunity). Let’s not complicate things further, and we don’t want to get politically right or wrong. It’s not our forte..
The legacy and character of Sridevi will never be forgotten, she has done fierce feminist roles, highly expressive and critically acclaimed performances in most of her films which will be cherished by the upcoming generations as well. She was the undisputed queen of charm, had remarkable comic timing, excellent body language and had the best expressions in Bollywood, with possibly no competition to her style. She created the position for women in the film industry, where for the first time they got importance for their character in the movies, she was the only actress in Bollywood who was paid higher than her male counterparts. She created a revolution for women in the film industry by ruling the big screen at a time when the cinema was dominated by the aggressive male roles. There could be many reasons and culprits for her sudden death, let’s try and understand them all..
Sridevi underwent laser skin surgery, silicon breast correction, botox, face lifts, body tucks & several facial corrections. She may have looked young, but the question remains is that.. did she put her body through more than what it can handle. There have been reports which say that she was heavily into ‘botox’ to maintain her health and looks. It’s like saying that did she took the Michael Jackson’s road to look all perfect. It’s ironic that Sridevi, who is hailed as the first female superstar of Bollywood, was subjected to sharp criticism about her appearance throughout her career, and now even after her death. Starting her career as a child artist, she was under public scrutiny for a long time. Earlier, it was alleged that she also underwent skin lightening treatment as the change of skin tone was “visible”.
There are no possibilities in the Indian movies for a Meryl Streep; India is not a country for old women. India wants women on screens who can be lusted for and can be used for commercials; like selling Lux or Fair and Lovely. They will be fantasized and followed but not respected. Even after they bear children, actresses like Aishwarya Rai, Kareena Kapoor, and Kajol must quickly return to their earlier forms to be accepted in reel life. But, do they have a choice? Can they get roles of the kind an older male star gets? Would the average Indian audience, consisting both men and women, appreciate a movie with an elderly actress in a lead role, much like an Amitabh Bachchan? We know the answer.
PR industry plays a major role in actors image and promotes the movies through media. Every righteous movie star, director, writer etc, gets away claiming to have made an empowering movie for women. At the same time, they are unapologetic about the movies they had made, acted in, written or produced that may have contradicted their stance( they would have demeaned women). The aggressive promotion of such movies allows the slow poison at a cost of actors image or character. Generations of boys grew up thinking women are to be routinely stalked, harassed and molested, and established rape as a legitimate weapon. The PR strives to prove that only those movies that cater to the lecherous lumpen among the Indian men are successful. It would appear that such Indian men only want to see Katrina Kaif’s midriff; that was their goal and sole purpose of life. They don’t want better movies.
The fashion industry is also a big cause of the actions taken by the actors. Women, like men, should be free to wear what they want and look the way they want. But when a woman’s look is dictated by the requirements of male approval, especially for commercial reasons, there is a huge problem with that. An air hostess, who wears a short skirt to work, has to follow rules set for her on the job. But she has been placed there to entertain a certain type of Indian male passenger, not difficult to picture, who would travel that airline again and again only for the air hostesses.
Fashion has become an easy tag to justify the misrepresentation of women through narratives of choice. But preferences must be necessarily independent to be authentic. Further, the fashion sizes into which a woman must fit, impose a form that is unhealthy and unnatural
While this debate is raging in the rest of the world, in India, the fashion designers act as if it was a nation of teenage girls, desperate to get into their size-zero dresses. The celebration of choice cannot happen in India because the choice is tightly knit with the male endorsement. Indian fashion, dominated by men, exemplifies this condition.
In the end, however, we are all to blame. A famous Indian poet’s stature is enhanced when he pens a provocative item number that reduces a woman to a cheap, sexual fantasy. The director makes better money if the heroine of the movie is called ‘sizzling’. Respected publications sell because of cleavages, brands sell by showing women in the kitchen, or washing clothes. Men don’t care and women don’t protest in India (and even if they do, they are highly discredited and intimidated). With Sridevi’s death, yet another woman will fade away, only to be remembered that she was once, charming and beautiful.

Beauty has long been associated with Greek Goddesses but that was until this day 44 years ago, for on that day the Indian subcontinent was bestowed with a Goddess of our own, and we named her Aishwarya!
We know that we just ended up sounding like a swooning school girl, but how can we not? Ash just turned 44 today – that’s right, and she doesn’t look a day over 28 – and while we are in awe of her beauty and everything she has achieved (and while we also want to crawl under a rock and die when we think about what we’d look like at her age). Here’s wishing this glamorous diva a very Happy Birthday! And while we’re at it, here’s a walk down Ash’s memory lane to see some of her iconic moments through history. Read and weep ladies, read and weep.
Ash’s journey into stardom began after she was crowned Miss India and then went on to leave the world head over heels in love with her after clinching the Miss World title in 1994.
Aishwarya graced the silver screen thereafter and one of her earliest hits was the movie Taal. Her dance routine in the film is still one that we remember and occasionally groove to.
She broke a million hearts (the collective sound of which would be heard at the farthest ends of the South Pole) when we revealed that she would be marrying into Bollywood’s first family, the Bachans. Mashallah, she and Abhishek have had a long and blissful marriage ever since.
Ash represented timeless natural beauty not just in our country but across the world. Her light eyes and beautiful face would leave Helen of Troy envious. A thousand ships would definitely set sail for this beauty.
And she isn’t just all good looks, her heart is just as big and beautiful.
Her portrayal of Jodha Bhai, though meant to be overshadowed by Hrithik’s performance, still captivates audiences today. Not only did she slay the ethnic look, but he haunting looks of sadness still give us the feels.
Ash has not only made her mark in the silver screen but also juggles her fame with her role and responsibilities as a mother to her little Aradhya.
And as if she hasn’t achieved enough already, she is also the brand ambassador and the face for L’Oreal Paris. We can just hear her iconic rendition of the word ‘Because you’re worth it!’ in our ears as we see this.
Following a brief hiatus from cinema, she returned to the silver screens for a short cameo in Karan Johar’s Yeh Dil He Mushkil where she played the extremely wise and extremely desirable older woman who Ranbir romances. Honestly, we watched the movie just for a glimpse of her (and Fawad <3)
And while the rest of the world may think that by the time you hit 44 you ought to hide within you knitted cardigan and take up potting succulents in your free time Aishwarya Rai Bachan proves to them, that 44 is the new 24 and that you can slay at any age, as long as you have the attitude to go with it.
Keep slaying Ash! **blows kiss back**

]]>Much has been said about her performances. A lot has been written about her beauty. Time flies when one gazes her eyes, eyes that make anyone wobbly kneed. It has been almost two decades since Aishwarya Rai won the Femina Miss India crown, followed by the Miss World title. But little has changed over the years when it comes to her ethereal beauty and motherhood has only added charm to her beauty making her an eternal diva. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is ruling the roost when it comes to endorsing classy brands. And what’s astonishing is that she is considered to be a reliable face to represent those brands, despite not having a single film on her work roster. But looks like Ash has done something right (in her career and in her past life) to win the implicit trust of brand-makers.
She seems to enjoy lording over the established Bollywood ladies. And now, as she is effortlessly putting her stamp on big-fat-money-minting-brands, we wonder how she’s doing it all. One of her strategies is, we think, to choose her brands very carefully. From being Goodwill Ambassador with the United Nations to representing a major Kerala Jewellers, Ash is not just making mature decisions, but also opting for products and endorsements that complement her age and her subtle yet classy style.
Now that Ash is playing her cards right with her amazingly deft hands, we are glad the former Miss World has very smartly created a space for herself in the advertisement arena. And since she’s ageing gracefully, we think that’s one more reason for her fans and high-end brands to be even more impressed by the beautiful lady…
The former Miss World, went all stylish for the recent ad of Longines. She was seen wearing a fascinator, posing alongside a horse. The ad gives a very royal feel and complements the classic look of the watch. The actor still has a lot of kilos to lose, but the best part is that her lower portion is very strategically cropped in the ad. And the diva-ish attitude Ash brings to the poster is commendable – the black and white effect adds to the whole elite, classic look.Ash had also posed in a saree for one of the watch’s print endorsements in the past. And we must say she does equal justice to both the desi and the la-di-da Western statements.
For Aishwarya, her association with God’s own Country began even before big endorsement deals. The lady reminisced about her first visit to the State, “Coming here to Trivandrum brought back memories. In fact, when I started my journey in the film industry, my first film was with Mani Ratnam. I came on my very first day of shooting here. I landed in Trivandrum,” she said. Ash- Ratnam combination go back a long way, so does director Mani Ratnam love affair with the spectacular Athirapally waterfalls in Kerala. Mani Ratnam has shot three of his blockbuster movies in the picturesque locales. Aishwarya’s cinematic debut, ‘Iruvar’ in 1997 directed by him was shot in Athirapally. They worked again ten years later in ‘Guru’ and Aishwarya simply stole hearts with the mesmerizing song ‘Barso Re’ in which the gorgeous lady ‘tulip’ danced like a merry peacock in the rain behind the waterfalls. The same year she got married to her Guru co-star Abhishek Bachchan and the powerhouse pair joined their favourite director Mani Ratnam in 2010 for ‘Raavan’ that was shot in the abundant wilderness of the Sholayar Range, with a view of the magnificent Athirapally waterfalls. Raavan that was simultaneously shot in Tamil and Hindi was said to be a modern interpretation of the epic Ramayana. Ash says the story of ‘Raavan’ was narrated to her while she was getting drenched for the song Barso Re, and the water connection of Athirapally continued while filming Raavan as well. No wonder with so many wonderful memories she has with Kerala, the actress is keen to keep her bond with ‘Gods own Country’, on her latest visit to the State Aishwarya was accompanied by her darling daughter Aaradhya for the very first time and for this very reason the visit holds a special importance for her.
