Kerala has come forward as a model example to the rest of the country as  MP Hibi Eden has launched an inspiring campaign called ‘Cup of Life’. This campaign aims at distributing menstrual cups to more than one lakh women in his constituency  on 30th August. The initiative is a joint venture in association with Indian Medical Association (IMA) Kochi and Ernakulam District Administration, in collaboration with Muthoot Finance. The logo of the initiative was unveiled by the actor Jayasurya.

Summer heat is just growing on and on as days go by, so it’s time that everyone starts talking about their health and giving ourselves some well deserved self love. Here are some generic things that everyone just needs to be reminded and possibly introduced so that we don’t get caught up in these burning times.

Stay Hydrated!

Ok, pretty much everyone knows this is the 1st rule of Health club. Then why doesn’t anyone do this, like is it that hard to drink an adequate amount of the basic essential fluid of life. Just grab a bottle, it is the new cool and it does not make you look idiotic.

Eat Your Greens!

Alright kids, listen to your moms. They know what’s right for you and it’s really intelligent that you eat nutritious things especially in summer. Don’t lose that moisture in you, we don’t want to shrivel up do we.

No Alcohol

Yeah, I know it’s hard but what’s important is booze or your health. That may be a trick question, but just cut down on your intake. Try something different as your go to beverage for some time, it may do miracles.

 

Just keep these things in mind, sleep well and probably we can stay alive in this hectic season.

It is said that there is a connection between mind and yoga, where three things are connected; one is the body, mind, and soul. When they connect, your body gains more happiness out of the whole experience. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit term for the union. Unlike other exercises that can drain your energy and mind. Yoga is not something that is forcefully pushed; the body itself encourages us to carry out yoga.

“We have grown up in a society where we are compared to everyone around us; our minds are at a competitive pace, and yoga is the only time to slow down. In this time period, we can see a lot of them are going through depression, anxiety, stress, and all. It’s because we have more spare time to overthink, plus we have more energy in our bodies. So to get a break from all this, we do yoga where you don’t have time to focus on anything as you will be more focused on your postures, correct breathing, and stretching” words by Akhila Asokan, a 21-year-old mental health advocate pursuing clinical psychology an internationally certified yoga instructor and founder of Virayogacademy.

So basically during the Covid, we had to forcefully have to sit at home. The human emotion of touch was completely removed from many people’s lives that kind of led to more problems of loneliness and anxiety about the future on what will happen to in respective of Covid. There was much confusion about jobs, the future, marriage, and all, so these uncertainties caused higher anxiety, depression, and all. People had many difficulties and they started seeking therapy.

Constantly, hearing from covid cases could equally affect your mind; the weaker your mind gets, the weaker your immunity gets.

Breathing exercise detoxes your lungs, and for people who perform yoga, their lungs are stronger than others. People with covid have a higher chance of recovering from it in any age group. After Covid also, it does affect people mentally, and yoga turned out to be a solution to all this.

A lot of causes could be causing your sleepless nights and hazy mornings. Aside from too much screen time and stress, your nutrition has a big influence on your sleeping patterns. An unbalanced diet could be the cause of poor sleep. According to studies, a high intake of processed foods is associated with poor sleep quality, whereas a high intake of fish and vegetables is associated with good sleep. Low protein consumption was linked to poor sleep quality and was only slightly associated with difficulty beginning sleep in non-shift workers, whereas high protein intake was linked to sleep maintenance difficulties.

Can carbs affect sleep?

The quality of sleep is affected by both a low carb and a high carb diet. Modifying carbohydrate intake had the greatest impact on both REM and non-REM sleep. “The quality of carbohydrate consumed, rather than the quantity of carbohydrate consumed, controls this link.” The effect of a high-carbohydrate diet on sleep stage changes is connected to increased serotonin synthesis, according to study. It’s critical to eat well-balanced meals with lots of protein to ensure optimal sleep quality.

What to eat for good sleep?

Almonds– Almonds contain active ingredients such as melatonin and magnesium, and eating a handful of almonds before bedtime is recommended for a restful night’s sleep.

Walnuts– Walnuts are high in melatonin, and eating 7-10 walnut halves before night will help you fall asleep faster.

Kiwi– It contains serotonin precursors, and eating two kiwis one hour before bedtime is thought to increase sleep quality.

Milk– Milk contains the sleep-inducing amino acid tryptophan, therefore drinking a cup of warm milk before bed is linked to a longer night’s sleep.

Chamomile tea– This magical tea contains the active ingredient apigenin, which promotes good sleep quality and duration when ingested in the form of 1 cup before bed.
